Prof. Dr. Alexander Ziem ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls „Germanistische Sprachwissenschaft“ an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf und Direktor des Integrierten Graduiertenkollegs zum SFB 991 „The Structure of Representations in Language, Cognition and Science“. Nach Lehr- und Forschungstätigkeiten an der Technischen Universität in Berlin und der Universität Basel war er 2013 und 2014 als Fellow am „International Computer Science Institute“ (FrameNet) in Berkeley, Kalifornien, USA, tätig. Er war Ko-Leiter der DFG-Projekte „Sprachliche Konstruktionen von ‚Krisen‘ in der BRD (1973-2009)“ (zusammen mit Prof. Dr. Martin Wengeler) und „Methoden und Methodologien der Diskursanalyse“ (zusammen mit Prof. Johannes Angermüller, Soziologie, und Prof. Martin Nonhoff, Politikwissenschaften). Aktuell richtet sich seine Forschung auf die Errichtung eines deutschen FrameNets und Konstruktikons ( https://gsw.phil.hhu.de/ ). Seit Januar 2018 leitet er zusammen mit Prof. Oliver Czulo (Leipzig) und Prof. Tiago Torrent (FrameNetBrasil, Juiz de Fora) das DAAD-Projekt “Comparing semantic frames and grammatical constructions across languages: from linguistic analyses and multilingual resources to machine translation“. Sein Arbeitsschwerpunkt liegt in der Kognitiven Semantik, Konstruktionsgrammatik (unter anderem im Grenzbereich zur Phraseologie) sowie der Korpus- und Diskurslinguistik.

 

Prof. Dr. Alexander Ziem is Chair of German Linguistics at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and Academic Director of the Integrated Graduate School of the Collaborative Research Center 991, “The Structure of Representation in Language, Cognition and Science”. After working in various teaching and research positions at the universities of Berlin (Technische Universität Berlin) and Basel, in 2013 and 2014, he worked as fellow researcher at the “International Computer Science Institute” (FrameNet) in Berkeley, California. He codirected the projects “Sprachliche Konstruktionen von ‚Krisen‘ in der BRD (1973-2009)“ (in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Martin Wengeler) and „Methoden und Methodologien der Diskursanalyse“ (in collaboration with Prof. Johannes Angermüller, sociology, and Prof. Martin Nonhoff, political science). His research is currently centered on the development of a German FrameNet and Constructicon (https://gsw.phil.hhu.de/). Since January 2018 he directs, in collaboration with Prof. Oliver Czulo (Leipzig) and Prof. Tiago Torrent (FrameNetBrasil, Juiz de Fora) the project “Comparing semantic frames and grammatical constructions across languages: from linguistic analyses and multilingual resources to machine translation“, financed by the DAAD. His work focuses on cognitive semantics, construction grammar (especially in relation to phraseology), as well as corpus linguistics and discourse analysis.
