Licenciada en Filología Germánica (Inglés) por la Universidad de Málaga (1988) y doctora en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1994). Catedrática visitante en Tecnologías de la Traducción del Instituto de Investigación en Procesamiento del Lenguaje y la Información de la Universidad de Wolverhampton (desde 2007) y catedrática de Traducción e Interpretación de la Universidad de Málaga (desde 2008). Delegado español en los comités AEN/CTN 174 y CEN/BTTF 138 encargados de la redacción de la norma UNE-EN 15038:2006. Experto español para el comité ISO TC37/SC2-WG6 “Translation and Interpreting”, dentro del cual es responsable de ISO/AWI 20539 (Translation, interpreting and related technology – Vocabulary) e ISO/DIS 18841 (Interpreting services – General requirements and recommendations). Es evaluadora para la ANECA (programa Verifica, Comisión de Arte y Humanidades) y otras agencias de evaluación. Cuenta con una extensa producción científica y forma parte de numerosos comités científicos y consejos de redacción nacionales e internacionales. Recientemente ha recibido el Premio Farola 2017 (Modalidad de Nuevas Tecnologías) del Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer (Junta de Andalucía). Presidenta de AIETI (Asociación Ibérica de Traducción e Interpretación, 2015-2017) y vicepresidenta de AMIT-A (Asociación e Mujeres Investigadoras y Tecnólogas de Andalucía, 2014-2017), actualmente es Directora del Departamento de Traducción e Interpretación de la Universidad de Málaga, miembro del Consejo Consultivo y de la Dirección Ejecutiva de EUROPHRAS (“European Society of Phraseology”) y Miembro del Consejo Científico de AIETI.

Visiting Professor in Translation Technology at the Research Institute in Information and Language Processing (RIILP) of the University of Wolverhampton, UK (since 2007), and Professor in Translating and Interpreting (2008). Published and cited extensively, member of several international and national editorial and scientific committees. Spanish delegate for AEN/CTN 174 and CEN/BTTF 138, actively involved in the development of the UNE-EN 15038:2006 and currently involved in the future ISO Standard (ISO TC37/SC2-WG6 “Translating and Interpreting”), where she is a charge of ISO/AWI 20539 (Translation, interpreting and related technology – Vocabulary) and ISO/D18841 (Interpreting services – General requirements and recommendations). Regular evaluator of University programmes and curriculum design for the Spanish Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) and various research funding bodies. She has recently been awarded the “2017 Farola Award” in the field of New Technologies, given by the Andalusian Women’s Institute, Junta de Andalucía. President of AIETI (Iberian Association o Translation and Interpreting Studies, 2015-2017), Vice-President od AMIT-A (Association of Women in Science and Technology of Andalusia, 2014-2017), she is currently Director of the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Malaga. Board member and member of the Advisory council of EUROPHRAS (European Society of Phraseology) and member of the scientific council of AIETI.
